Platform Housing Group has launched its Environmental Sustainability Strategy 2026-2028, outlining a roadmap to create lasting positive impacts for customers, communities and the environment.
The strategy sets out how the housing provider will respond to key environmental challenges, including climate change, biodiversity loss and resource efficiency, while embedding sustainability into decision-making across the organisation.
A central pillar of the strategy is Platform’s commitment to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2050. To support this goal, the Group has established interim emissions reduction targets and will continue to externally validate its Scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions to ensure transparency and accountability.
The strategy also includes a commitment to increasing climate awareness across the business, helping colleagues develop the knowledge and skills needed to support the organisation’s environmental ambitions.
Improving the sustainability of homes remains a key focus. Platform has pledged to enhance the energy efficiency of its housing stock by 2030, while also reducing waste and resource consumption, supporting biodiversity and working closely with suppliers and partners to deliver positive environmental outcomes.
The new strategy builds on progress already made by the Group, including investments in low-carbon technologies, sustainability improvements across its operations and the expansion of its electric vehicle fleet.
Developed in collaboration with customers, colleagues and stakeholders, the strategy reflects the priorities of the communities Platform serves.
Lianne Taylor, Director of Sustainability at Platform Housing Group, said: “The challenges posed by climate change and biodiversity loss mean organisations like ours have an important role to play in creating positive environmental outcomes for future generations.
“This strategy sets out how we’ll do that. It provides a clear framework for action, from improving the energy efficiency of our homes and reducing emissions to protecting and enhancing nature and working with our partners to create more sustainable communities.
“Sustainability isn’t something that sits alongside our business, it’s integral to how we make decisions, invest in our homes and support our customers. By working together with colleagues, customers and partners, we can create lasting positive impacts for the communities we serve.”
The launch coincides with Platform’s first Sustainability Week, which is designed to engage colleagues with the organisation’s environmental goals. Activities include the introduction of a new sustainability hub on the company intranet, case studies showcasing successful community initiatives and Lunch and Learn sessions exploring the strategy and its commitments in greater detail.
