Severn Trent Green Power (STGP) has confirmed that construction will shortly begin on four new solar parks, representing the diversification of its green energy portfolio which currently generates 335GWh per year, enough to power around 120,000 homes.
This project represents a major milestone for STGP entering the solar market, supporting the UK’s transition to a low-carbon energy system and strengthening the company’s growing ambitions in the renewable energy space. The four new solar farms will add around 180GWh of generation capacity when all are energised.
The four sites, in North Yorkshire, Warwickshire, Shropshire and Leicestershire, will begin construction in stages, with the first three moving into delivery from late March 2026 and the fourth scheduled to follow this summer.
Once operational, the solar parks will generate clean, renewable electricity, contributing to regional energy resilience and national decarbonisation targets.
Construction across the four sites will be delivered by BELECTRIC, one of Europe’s most experienced service providers for the development, construction, and operation of solar power plants and battery storage systems, ensuring the projects are delivered to high standards.
To support local engagement ahead of and throughout the construction periods, STGP has appointed PLMR, a specialist communications consultancy, to deliver a structured programme of community outreach and minimise disruption.
Jonathon Wroe, Managing Director at Severn Trent Green Power, said: “These are the first solar projects of scale that STGP is bringing forward, and they mark an important step in our long-term commitment to renewable energy.
“As we move into construction, our priority is to deliver these projects in a way that reflects the needs of the communities hosting them. We are committed to open communication and meaningful engagement throughout the build programme and beyond.”
Dr Thorsten Blanke, CEO of BELECTRIC, member of Elevion Group added: “We are proud to be partnering with Severn Trent Green Power on this significant portfolio of solar projects. Supported by the strong European platform of the Elevion Group, our team continues to demonstrate its capability to deliver large-scale solar power plants under complex conditions.”
