Sonaura powers Bentley Motors

Private-wire renewable energy company Sonaura has announced the signing of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Bentley Motors to directly supply renewable energy to its UK manufacturing headquarters in Crewe.

The agreement will see Sonaura develop and operate a 7MW solar project, subject to planning and regulatory approvals, delivering green electricity directly to Bentley’s premises via a private wire connection.

By bypassing the grid, the project will provide a secure, cost-effective and sustainable energy supply to one of the region’s most important industrial employers.

Ed Pateman-Jones, CEO of Sonaura, said: “Our agreement with Bentley Motors demonstrates how private wire renewable energy supports both the sustainability and resilience of UK industry. By delivering locally generated clean power directly to Bentley’s Crewe manufacturing headquarters, we are helping to protect its operations from ongoing market volatility by securing a dependable energy supply.

“This project shows how industry and energy infrastructure can work together to create lasting value – strengthening regional economies and accelerating the transition to net zero.”

The project represents a significant step in supporting local industry with locally generated renewable energy. By helping to power Bentley’s manufacturing headquarters with dedicated clean electricity, the PPA will contribute to long-term sustainability.

As a major employer in the region, Bentley’s investment in renewable energy highlights the role that forward-looking businesses can play in driving regional decarbonisation.
