Tosca launches innovative supply chain solution

Tosca, a global provider of reusable packaging and pooling solutions, is helping businesses improve visibility, efficiency and sustainability across their supply chains through Asset IQ, its traceability service for reusable assets.

Developed and refined over several years, Asset IQ combines active IoT-enabled tracking for high-value assets with passive RFID and barcode technologies for high-volume operations, providing organisations with a flexible and scalable approach to traceability.

“Tosca Asset IQ is the result of years of experience helping customers improve visibility and control across complex supply chains,” said Eric Frank, CEO of Tosca. “Our dual active and passive architecture enables businesses to select the right level of traceability for their operations while maintaining a single view of their assets. The result is greater efficiency, improved decision-making and stronger supply chain performance.”

Asset IQ provides businesses with a solution for tracking, tracing and monitoring reusable containers and pallets throughout their lifecycle. Supporting Tosca’s reusable products through pooling, rental and direct sales models, as well as operating as a standalone service for third-party assets, the platform creates a digital record of asset movements and utilisation.

At the core of the service is a dual traceability approach designed to address varying supply chain requirements. Asset IQ Active delivers real-time visibility for high-value assets where precise location and condition monitoring are critical, while Asset IQ Passive enables cost-effective tracking of large asset populations in high-volume environments.

This flexibility allows businesses to deploy traceability solutions tailored to their operational needs while benefiting from a platform that supports inventory management, process optimisation and regulatory compliance.

Beyond asset tracking, Asset IQ is designed to help organisations improve overall supply chain performance. Greater visibility into asset movements and utilisation can help identify inefficiencies, reduce operational bottlenecks, optimise inventory levels and improve route planning.

The insights generated through the platform can also support sustainability goals by reducing unnecessary transport movements, minimising product and asset losses, improving asset utilisation and enabling more circular supply chain models.

Across the retail, food, beverage and consumer goods sectors, businesses are using Asset IQ to strengthen transparency, improve operational control and support data-driven decision-making.

While built on an established foundation, Tosca continues to invest in technologies and applications that address evolving supply chain challenges. As sensors, connectivity solutions and battery technologies become increasingly accessible, the company is exploring new ways to combine active and passive tracking capabilities.

“We see significant potential in hybrid active and passive solutions, particularly in highly automated supply chains,” explained Mr Frank. “For example, an active-enabled pallet may transport multiple passive-tagged crates, allowing businesses to gain visibility at different levels of the supply chain while managing costs effectively. Bringing these technologies together through a unified dashboard can help customers make faster decisions and optimise operations on a larger scale.”

According to Tosca, this hybrid approach represents the next stage in supply chain traceability, enabling businesses to increase visibility while maintaining operational efficiency.

Asset IQ supports a broad range of applications, including monitoring reusable asset flows, improving distribution efficiency, enhancing store execution programmes and increasing visibility across complex logistics networks. By combining technology, supply chain expertise and data-driven insights, the platform helps organisations address operational challenges and improve performance throughout the value chain.

Supporting sustainability remains central to Tosca’s strategy. By creating a digital record for reusable containers and pallets, Asset IQ helps businesses maximise asset value throughout its lifecycle, improve resource efficiency and reduce unnecessary waste.

The company says the platform is particularly valuable as supply chains become increasingly complex and regulatory requirements continue to evolve, providing organisations with the visibility and accountability needed to improve performance and support long-term sustainability objectives.
